Greetings followers! I have some exciting news. I AM (a little bit more) FAMOUS (than I used to be).
Let me explain.
One of my part-time gigs is working as the Blog Editor to Melibee Global Education Consulting. I have been a virtual intern since February, and have known the founder, Missy Gluckman, for about 6 years. I recently wrote a blog article in response to a comment from one of the readers of the Melibee Blog. The topic was around living abroad when you are not in a Study Abroad program.
As you probably know, many university students from the states (including myself – London Fall 2003, woot!) spend a semester abroad. The programs are highly structured and everything is taken care of for you. Basically, you just have to show up and your classes, housing, socializing and travel excursions are all handed to you on a silver platter. If you want to actually make friends with the local community – good luck.
Then welcome to Grown Up Land and you get a job overseas or you go looking for a job overseas (because you loved the study abroad experience soooooooooooo much) and HELLO! This is not like it was when mom and dad were sending you money and when going to class with a hangover was wayyyy easier then trying to go work in another language with a hangover.
