I’ve relocated more than a few times. I’ve traveled to 22 countries and lived, worked and studied in 5. Packing a suitcase has become quite familiar to me. And there is nothing that annoys me more than packing something, carrying it around and then never using it.
That being said, I’ve had some… let’s not say weird stuff, perhaps inventive items is more fitting…
Altoid minis
I like fresh breath. Actually its a requirement, not a preference. And there is no other better mint. None. So I bring backup, like maybe 5 tins.

A headlamp!
This super-geek gadget is cooler than your flashlight. And apparently Lauren Conrad has used this gadget in adventures in manicuring-at-night. And no, I’m not a Hills fan, never watched it by but the power of google-image search “people using headlamps” wa-la… I present you with…

Water flavor packets
Sometimes the water is safe to drink but taste TERRIBLE, so I bring some flavor packs for all my journeys.

I kid you not I carried this from Ko Phangan Island on foot, then tuk-tuk, boat, bus, taxi, plane and through several airports all the back to California. I thought it was the coolest thing and, I still remember, it was only $15.

The pouch it came in, was appropriately marked “Fold dabble Hamm Ock” — “foldable hammock”. I still have this gem more than 10 years and many camping trips later. Still in great condition – I guess it was made to last!
And even better you can now buy your very own Fold dabble Hamm Ock here with out all the trouble of hand delivery.
Have you ever packed something crazy to take with you on at trip? Or what was the wildest souvenir you brought home?
